Selling Out to Face-outs
This spring I did some extreme weeding and shifting in our everybody section. I moved all our books shelved the traditional way (spine out) to the lower two shelves to achieve the goal of maximizing face-outs, which have TRIPLED in number.
So far I've noticed students who typically take a very long time to choose are able to see and select a book more easily. It has also lead some students to comment that there are "So many choices!"
It has been very easy to shelve and maintain, which can be a concern with young patrons. It seems that students, teachers, and library staff are loving the change.
