Graphic Novel Guide
After learning the features of a graphic novel in 3rd grade, I used this lesson with our 4th graders. We reviewed the parts of a graphic novel as a warm-up, then made our own graphic novel guide.
I showed the slides first (they contain some non-examples/example for picture taking at the end). Students were then asked to find and photograph different elements of graphic novels and add them to Seesaw with a label (this could also work in Google slides).
The result is their own guide to understanding the parts of graphic novels! As I hoped, this exercise saw our students open and investigate lots of different graphic novels and generated interest in some new series.
